Cramassouri canyon
This canyon is the best you can find as a first introduction to this outdoor activity. Amusing and varied, it only takes half a day and Couleur Canyon’ s instructors are pleased to take with them a novice public in order to share a great time in open air. You’ll discover the wildness of this place on a river of rare clarity. Natural slides and jumps, as well as a few swimming sections in narrow sections make this outing unforgettable and ludic for the young ones as well as the elders.
Only 40 minutes away from Nice, this canyon is also close to Toulon and Marseille ( two and two and half hours away respectively) which makes it ideal if you want to get out for a refreshing and sporting half day !
The adventure starts with introductions before allotting the equipment. A short approach march is necessary to get to the canyon, during which you’ll be able to enjoy a breath taking view on the river below and its green surroundings. After a briefing on security and a few explanations about the course, we’ll finally jump in the water. From there, we’ll walk the river until we arrive at a narrow section where the walls have been strangely sculpted by erosion. Several slides and jumps later, surrounded by a mineral setting, we’ll reach the highlight of this show: a magnificent slide with elevated pools.
This canyon is only thirty minutes away from Nice, in the Tinee valley. We suggest that you organise your day with an active morning and a relaxing afternoon on the beach where you can enjoy the English walk !

Situation
Located 30 minutes north of Nice, in the Tinée valley, the Cramassouri canyon will guarantee you a great moment of happiness. Short and very playful, the valley of Cramassouri is an ideal canyon for the biginners, the polished rocks, the generous basins and the narrows paths succeeding one after another until the confluence with the Tinée. Everything seems to come together to offer you an unforgettable experience. For vacationers of Castellane, 1h15 drive in the valley of the Var is necessary to access it.
Vertical character
In this canyon there is no real timeout, except the first river walk that leads to the first obstacle. The succession of cascades guarantees a fluid and rhythmic progression. We only use the rope to comes down to a small down climb in a basin. Clear water makes walking easier as all the rocks are visible.
Aquatic character
Since this river is frequented by canyoners, and even during heat waves, the course has never been seen dry. In spring, it’s possible to do it with a higher flow of water, which makes it more sporty and technical. Some movements of water can be dangerous or very playful. The installation of safety ropes can be useful. However, in summer, water level is very moderate and allows to enjoy a very pleasant temperature of water, around 17 °. A very appreciated thing by the youngest.
Commitment
The descent is done in a beautiful rocky break and does not offer intermediate exit. For this reason, we avoid to engage in this descent when the weather forcast are unsure. But fortunately the Alpes-Maritimes offer us very often beautiful and warm sunny days.
